01 / THE BRAND
What it’s all about.
Booking.com is a travel platform for hotels, apartments and other stays, alongside products such as flights, cars and attractions. It connects you with individual providers rather than operating the accommodation itself. Its appeal is breadth and comparison. The important step is narrowing that choice to a property, room and rate whose location, capacity and conditions suit your trip.

02 / WHAT IT COSTS
Genius: 10% to 20% on selected stays
Rates vary by property, room, dates and party size. The free Genius program advertises 10% on selected stays at Level 1, 10–15% at Level 2 and 10–20% at Level 3. These are eligible discounts, not a platform wide sale. On a hypothetical eligible $300 base room rate, 10% would save $30 before separately applicable charges; this is arithmetic, not a live offer. Always compare the final payable total.
Prices in US dollars unless stated otherwise. Starting prices and historical examples are not live offers. Select your dates, guest ages and travel product, then compare the final total and cancellation terms.

03 / THE HONEST COMPARISON
The reasons to go.
The reasons to pause.
Our editorial assessment of the offering and practical tradeoffs.
Pros
- A broad starting point for comparing hotels and apartments
- Filters can narrow location, facilities and rate conditions
- Genius can provide useful savings on participating options
Cons
- Genius benefits apply to selected options rather than every result
- Search ranking is not an independent quality ranking
- Room details, payment arrangements and refund rules differ by provider
04 / BEFORE YOU BOOK
The details that
make a difference.
- 01
Genius Level 2 requires five completed bookings in two years; Level 3 requires fifteen. Each reservation counts once, not once per night
- 02
Look at the actual bed layout, child ages, maximum occupancy and selected room photographs, especially for a family of five
- 03
Read prepayment and cancellation rules before booking. A property may take a deposit or preauthorize funds; free cancellation has a deadline

05 / THE SHOPFEST VERDICT
Is it worth your trip?
Excellent as a starting point when you want to compare different accommodation styles. Use the shortlist to investigate the property itself, then compare the same room and terms directly. The right location and a usable refund policy are worth more than a discount badge alone.
