Our pick changes with the day
If your main goal is a clean shoe under trousers, start by trying Samba OG. If you prefer a slim retro shape but want a nylon upper and foam wedge, consider the selected Cortez. If breathability and a more cushioned runner feel matter most, the 530 is the strongest starting point of these three. None of that replaces a personal fit check.
The prices apply to the exact linked colors and listings. Cortez was $76.97 during research, Samba $100 and 530 $109.99. A temporary Nike reduction should not become a permanent claim that the entire brand is cheaper.
What independent shoe testing adds
RunRepeat’s Samba OG review praised its materials and flexibility but flagged a tight fit, limited arch support and a slippery gum outsole. Its separate New Balance 530 testing favored breathability and cushioning while identifying upper durability and cold weather suitability as drawbacks. These are results for the models the publication tested.
They explain useful questions to ask, not a promise that the selected color will feel identical or solve foot discomfort. We have not imported RunRepeat’s numerical scores into Shopfest’s scoring system.
Cortez fit deserves its own check
Nike specifically recommends going half a size up for this black and white DZ2795 001 version. The listing describes a nylon upper with suede accents, a foam midsole and a herringbone rubber outsole. Do not transfer an old leather Cortez fit assumption automatically to this shoe.
Try both feet and walk on a clean surface while the shoes remain returnable. Look for heel movement, pressure across the toes and room for your intended socks. A shoe can look narrow from above without feeling narrow to every wearer.
Style the hem around the shoe
Samba’s lower profile works when you want the trouser leg to fall cleanly. Cortez retains a slim outline with a different raised sole shape. The 530 introduces more volume, which can balance wide trousers but crowd a narrow ankle opening.
Try the complete outfit rather than selecting from a product photograph alone. These are lifestyle choices in this edit, not recommendations for a particular sport or a substitute for specialized footwear.
Samba sizing: start with the brand’s advice
adidas generally describes Samba as true to size, while noting that some people find it narrow. Its official guide says people with wider feet may consider a half size larger, and recommends measuring the foot against its chart. This is manufacturer guidance, not a Shopfest fitting result or a universal instruction to size up.
Use the exact retailer’s size scale for the black and white Samba selected here. A men’s size conversion shown on one listing may differ from how another store presents women’s sizes. Do not apply the Samba advice automatically to Cortez or 530. Confirm the model, scale, socks and return conditions before ordering.
