Miami Beach or Aspen: The Shelborne vs White Elephant
One winter break, two different priorities: an oceanfront Miami Beach hotel or an Aspen base with slope transfers. Choose the activity before the destination.

Choose The Shelborne when beach and city time lead the plan. Consider White Elephant Aspen when a mountain base is the goal. These are different destinations and budgets, not comparable ski or beach packages.

Miami Beach, Florida
The Shelborne By Proper
- Oceanfront hotel at 1801 Collins Avenue.
- Art Deco-era pool, beach service, Pauline restaurant and 24-hour fitness center listed.
- Select room categories have balconies; not every room does.
Before choosing. Check the full booking total: FAQ lists a daily resort/destination fee and separate valet charge. Extra beds and room occupancy still need confirmation; child-stays-free wording does not guarantee a room will fit five.

Aspen, Colorado
White Elephant Aspen
- Boutique Aspen hotel with rooms and suites, Lola 41 restaurant, outdoor pool and hot tubs.
- Amenities page lists private ski lockers and complimentary shuttle to slopes.
- Brand currently states it charges no resort fees.
Before choosing. Shuttle-to-slopes does not mean ski-in/ski-out. Aspen Snowmass should not be implied to be covered by Epic Pass; verify ski tickets separately. Confirm room occupancy and winter pool/shuttle operations for your dates.

The details that
change the decision.
01Name the activity worth traveling for
The Shelborne is oceanfront at 1801 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach, with a pool and beach service. White Elephant Aspen offers rooms and suites in Aspen, with private ski lockers and a slope shuttle among its listed amenities. Begin with the holiday you want: neither setting makes the other kind of itinerary available by default.
02A slope shuttle is not a ski pass
White Elephant’s shuttle does not establish ski-in or ski-out access. Lift tickets, lessons and equipment require separate planning. Do not assume Epic Pass covers Aspen Snowmass; check the actual resort’s lift products. At The Shelborne, a balcony is a room-category feature, and cabana or beach arrangements should be confirmed for the selected stay.
03Compare the complete trip, not just one nightly rate
Account for transport, room layout, mandatory charges and the activities you intend to book. Shelborne’s FAQ lists additional resort or destination charges, while White Elephant currently states no resort fee. That distinction alone cannot establish which total trip costs less. Enter every guest and confirm the sleeping arrangement before paying.

PACK WITH A PURPOSE
Let the clothes
follow the plan.
Miami calls for light layers and a separate dinner look; a mountain trip needs appropriate winter footwear and technical layers. Use the actual forecast and activity provider’s requirements when packing.
